Now, on with the show!
What is Imagine?
Let’s start with the basics, a synopsis.
“Imagine tells the story of a young woman hard at work in the woods, and her connection to the lake it surrounds.”
Ahem. Yes. That is a very boring synopsis. I’m not good at writing them, so sue me! I swear that the story is far, far more interesting than my lil’ summary. Well, I mean I hope it is, I think it is, but whose to say, really?
Well, I mean you, technically. I’m feeling quite wishywashy today, let’s get refocused.
Imagine comes in at 4737 words, about 1737 more words than I intended it to be. As with most of my story ideas this one has been kicking around in my brain for a while now, albeit not in its current form. About a month and a half ago I actually wrote out a three page, extremely detailed outline, with everything down to recurring word choice planned out.
Then I sat down to write the story, and threw the entire thing out the window. I didn’t reference it even once, and am now questioning the purpose of writing outlines in advance. It’s amazing how much a story can change just from one writing session to the next.
As for this story and the inspiration behind it, that would be my simultaneous love and deep, deep, deep terror of water. I sometimes randomly look up galleries of pictures of freaky deep sea fish for fun, but then have actual anxiety about swimming in a pool. Funny how life works, huh? Anyhoo, this story is coming from that place.
When will the next Terrorwood installment be released?
May 14th-ish. It will be Chapter 3 of Feverdreamland, which I think will be pretty interesting.
Anything else we need to know?
Here is where I would insert a cute, pithy fun-fact but I do not have one prepared.
So, instead here I’m going to give you guys a quick update on how things are going on my end. My back issues are somewhat resolved, but not entirely. Because I don’t have a proper desk set-up at my apartment I have issues writing for extended periods of time, which is why I haven’t been posting that much. I am currently figuring out a new situation for writing, but until I do posts are going to be a bit erratic, so sorry in advance and thank you for your patience!
Now, I very much hope that you enjoy the latest Terrorwood installment, Imagine. Click here to go read it now!
